A fun foray into sewing for other people, I recently made Michael a pair of pants! I used a 7oz softened organic cotton and Friday Pattern Co’s new Rambler pant pattern.

These were really fun to sew, and I love how they turned out! The built in belt is a really cool feature, and levels up the look of an elasticated waist pant. I also was surprised what a difference a faux fly makes for the look of a pant. The stacked cargo pocket and pencil pocket were fun to do too.

The only thing I would change if I made these again would be to shorten the rise. Luckily, I still think the pants look really nice on, but Michael did say he had to pull them up like grandpa pants to be able to bike in them. This is now my second pattern from Friday Pattern Co. where the rise is absurdly high-waisted. It was suprising this happened on a men’s pattern, since I find men typically wear their pants lower? I don’t know. Anyways, yea, grandpa pants while biking.

It is nice to take a breather from making myself clothing- this was so satisfying to sew and I really love how they look! I think that Michael likes them too. I swear, lately when I look at myself in clothes (trying to fit as I sew, for example), I’m not sure I know what I actually even look like anymore. I don’t know if my eyes are playing tricks on me. But on others its so easy and straightforward to see! Refreshing.
