Another Quilted Pullover!

After I posted a picture of my first pullover, my brother requested one too so I got to work!

I complained a lot about the process of making the first project, but this second time around went so much smoother and I ended up with a much cleaner, more professional product. You know how I wondered if it was my machine or user error giving me trouble last time? Yea… it was user error.

So stoked that I got two full sweatshirts out of this quilt, and I think I have enough scraps to make a quilted bag next. All hail my thriftiness.

I still busted several needles on the serger while finishing the seams, but my mindset was so much more zen I was able to keep it together and continue on. Every seam is properly serged, no shortcuts, no crappy zig zag stitches!

I also stitched down the elastic on the bottom of the pullover body and the sleeves. It constantly twists if you don’t, and another great side effect is that it lays much nicer while wearing it with the extra stitching. I’m suprised that every pattern with elastic doesn’t recommend doing this- I can’t believe how easy that extra step is for the improvement.

I used magnetic buttons for the front placket closures- I think that is a nice improvement from the original as well. I like this pullover way better than mine! I will have to take mine out and make some repairs.

I don’t have a lot of witty commentary to offer today, it turns out things going smoothly doesn’t lend well to an entertaining write up at the end. You can focus on the pretty pictures instead…
